After a bad experience and review of a recent visit to A & E, assessment and ward 39, this was a complete contrast and the experience was much much better. Checked in quickly and easily, pre-assessment done after in a private room, Consultant came and explained procedure and made sure I was aware what would happen, anaesthetist came and explained her part and as this was the only area of concern she was more than accommodating in understanding my fear of the cannula in my hand and was happy to listen and offer alternatives - this is my biggest fear ever and I could have hugged her for understanding. Everyone was just so nice, organised, understanding and happy and I was taken down for a gallbladder removal op pretty much on the dot of when they said. Again when I came round the nurses were so nice and couldn't do enough for me and I just felt so relaxed and cared for. I was given a sandwich and cup of tea within minutes of coming round, painkillers when I asked, changed my gown when they saw it was bloodied and was as attentive as could be. I am really pleased and delighted to see another more pleasant side to an NHS experience
