"My mum's care and after care "

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Medicine

(as a relative),

My Mum was admitted to Crosshouse hospital after having a stroke.

My mum and the rest of the family feel that the care she received was second to none, from the Consultant ( Dr Copeland) to Nursing Assistants. She also received excellent care from the multidisciplinary teams I. e. the occupational and physiotherapists. The high standard of care extended from the ward (4D) to other departments I. e. Ophthalmology and Radiology.

The family were informed of her treatment and progress every step of the way, by friendly and caring staff. It made what was a very difficult and emotional time a little easier to cope with.

She made a full recovery, and we are all very grateful to the staff for their kindness, compassion and excellent care. I myself am a nurse in the NHS and feel that people are quick to complain about services provided, but very few praise the good work carried out.

Thank you once again Crosshouse, from a very grateful family. Keep up the great work.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear very grateful daughter,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. You are right, complaints are sometimes easier to make because of the emotion involved when care is not the optimum. It is heartening for everyone to know that we can and do achieve the gold standard and I am delighted that your mum and your family experienced it.

I will be very happy to pass this to the service managers to cascade to the staff and I am very pleased your mother has fully recovered from her stroke.

Kind regards,

Eunice
