"spacious waiting area"

About: Edgware Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

spacious waiting area

What could be improved

customer service, acknowledgement and eye contact by reception, manners, respect for patients

Anything else?

I attended the hospital for some tests in April 08. The consultant asked me questions about my condition, but refused to let me answer - therefore belittling me. After the checks, he suggested a simple day procedure, that didn't have a long waiting list. He said 6 weeks maximum. By May I hadn't heard anything and until November I kept chasing and leaving messages, but there was no response. I went back to my GP and asked her to find out. It looks like I had got "lost" in the system somewhere. I got a letter in November asking me to come in the following week for the procedure. When I called and explained that I wouldn't be able to until January, as I couldn't take time off work, I was told I would be taken off the list and would have to start all over again with my GP, as they couldn't keep me on the waiting list for that long!!!!!!!!! It would apprently mess up the figures that get reported to government authorities. I must say - not really putting the patient first, is it? When I explained that my appointment was in April, and I had been waiting since then for this procedure, there was no apology or explanation. Awful behaviour towards patients. Awful. So now, I have to go back to my GP and start all over again - all for a simple procedure that would, by now, have given me some of my life back.
