"Should nurses diagnose"

I spent 31yrs working in The NHS, 10yrs as a ward sister in a/e, my how things have changed, not always for the better, I attended Maidstone a/e recently ( after being advised by 111 to go) and was made to feel as. If I was just wasting their time, in fact I left before seeing the doctor. I was advised to go home again and ring 111 for a prescription. I suffer from allergies, I have had. Erythema multiforme and was hospitalised as was so severe some years ago now.My rash had started again and was getting worse of course causing me some concern, I tried to explain all to the triage nurse and was told it was only urticaria and nothing to worry about unless it affected my breathing, she went out and came back with a tablet for me, I asked what is this and she said an antihistamine so I asked which one as I had already explained and she hadn't listened at all I have to be very careful what I take, in fact over the counter antihistamines don't work for me and she was giving me Piriton. I just find it very concerning that nurses make a diagnosis and give advice when she for one was not listening to anything that I had said. I did get my medication from 111 but have been really ill for the last two days, we where leaving on holiday later that day and still cannot believe how bad I was made to feel.
