"Good care,seen quickly,efficient ..."

About: North Manchester General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Good care,seen quickly,efficient friendly staff

What could be improved

People at all the entrances stood around smoking, you should do more to enforce the rules.A sign on the wall is not enough !! Not a good welcome to a hospital walking through a cloud of cigarette smoke. How can you justify people smoking so close to the hospital ?

Anything else?

Staff should be encouraged to step out of the door as they pass by and remind people of hospital policy and the health risks !!

The Trust's hospital buildings and grounds are strictly no smoking areas and we are very concerned that people do persist in smoking on our sites. A number of measures have been put in place. For example a 'speaking sign' informing people that we operate a no smoking policy. Unfortunately this was pulled off the wall by an unknown individual. Staff do ask people politely to stop smoking and move away from the entrances - some do, but others do not and have verbally abused our staff, which is totally unacceptable.

Please be assured that we are trying to keep all our hospital sites free from smokers but it is not an easy task.
