"A credit to the NHS and Royal Liverpool Hospital"

About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital

I have just been discharged from my 2nd stay on Ward 8X ACRU and have nothing but praise. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer back in March 2013 and promptly admitted. From the initial examinations by camera, then CT scan and subsequent consultation with the consultant through to my admission, operation and aftercare on the ward i cannot fault the care, compassion, thoroughness and true professionalism of all concerned aswel as a level of humour and general happiness that the staff have even though they are faced with such a high pressure situation on a daily basis, not to mention some very poorly patients. In my own experience I had an 11 day stay in March 2013 after a successful operation to remove a tumour and have a stoma situated. My second stay was only for 3 days in May 2014 to have the stoma successfully reversed. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people involved in my pre operative investigations, my 2 operations and the subsequent care I received on both occasions on 8X ACRU. Particular thanks go to my surgeon and his team, without them I wouldn't be here. Also my stoma nurse, my specialist nurse and finally all the wonderful caring, smiley, happy staff who looked after me on both my stays in hospital. I cant thank you all enough and I know the NHS comes in for some criticism but you can only work with the tools you are given, if your going to be critical I think you need to criticise those at the top. The people at the hospital do a wonderful job and from the bottom of my heart, a big thanks to you all again. I could never repay my debt of gratitude towards you. Best Wishes......Gary Eves.
