"Email communications"

I was given an appointment to have my liver screened which I couldn't make. The letter clearly says one can cancel via an email address. I duly used this to cancel and heard nothing back so I called to confirm. The person who answered told me 'its useless emailing no-one checks the address.' I would think had I not called up, I would have been classed as a 'did not attend' and sent back to my GP. So I would advise people not to email and the hospital to remove this from the letter.
