"Involvement Volunteer Visitors"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health (inpatient)

(as other),

The Involvement Centre should send visitors (volunteers) to the wards weekly for those poor vulnerable people who get no visitors and are lonely. Loneliness makes mental health worse.

My Idea: Why not make sure each patient gets one non staff visitor day a week

E. g. on a Friday call it Friendly Friday

Thank you for posting this. I think this is a good idea, we do have some people from the centre who are befrienders and do visits but we do need to get more on board. As our volunteers pass throught involvement we do have a link to the befriending service but more are needed. Thank you again for your posting we will talk about this is our team.

Thank you for your posting regarding volunteers visiting our wards.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare's Volunteering & Befriending service is dedicated to the recrutiment, selection and support of volunteers across the Trust.

Volunteers provide a valuable, additional dimension to help and support the Trust’s professional staff. They bring additional insight, skills and interests and enhance the services provided and add to the quality of life of those receiving care.

We currently have lots of ward visitor volunteers registered with us who go on to our wards, spend time with service users having a chat, helping out with activities and generally giving their support and time to the wards. This is just one of the many volunteering roles we offer.

If you feel a specific area would benefit from having volunteers, please do speak to the ward manager and recommend they contact Volunteering & Befriending Services.
