I have never had cause to use this hospital apart from once when I needed stitches in A and E at the time someone else's blood was splashed up the wall. That was ten years ago so recently when a relative was very ill I thought times would have moved on. Sadly, I was wrong. This seems a small town hospital with a lot of staff but extremely inefficient. It is a back water not geared up to deal with cancer treatment and yet if you live in this area that is where they expect you to go. It's poor, there is no immediate or emergency response. It is burdened by its own systems and does not respond to what the patient needs. Holistic care is poor. Waiting times are long. Staff vary just as all people do, some are kind, some indifferent however this seems to be based on their own personal morality rather than a complete corporate commitment to care for an individual. Specific concerns are cleanliness, it simply is not clean. Floors are dirty, equipment is left laying about, it just is not a clean clinical environment. It is cluttered like no one really cares. It is very disappointing and I would never let a loved one be in this hospital, I would insist they were moved. No wonder the hospital has had issues with the Care Quality commission. The X ray dept is poor , not a nice environment to be in and too small. It's incredibly humbling and sad to see patients on trolleys who are very ill indeed and who are "parked" in corridors. The porters are incredulous! I was just knocked out by their job! They deliver a patient then wait for them for simply hours. They prop up the wall, it's terrible that money and time is wasted like that. They have a good chat for literally hours. My loved one has had tests here but I will certainly never let them be admitted. I have no trust or confidence in this hospital.
