"My recent experience following a heart attack"

From the moment that I was received at triage in A & E to my discharge at the end of Cardiac rehabilitation I received the most superb treatment. I was treated as an individual with respect, compassion and professionalism. I came to A& E in early March, was examined, swiftly tested and it transpired that I had had a heart attack almost a week before. Further tests followed and I was transferred to AMU Ward where I remained and was monitored overnight. The next day I was transferred to James Mackenzie Ward where I remained for a further 6 days. I received medication, had further tests and was monitored carefully. Throughout the whole of my time in Basildon Hospital the staff carefully explained everything that had happened and the treatment and testing that was taking place. The staff(Medical and non-medical), despite being extremely busy, were unfailingly cheerful and were generous with their time and support..I was given lots of relevant British Heart Foundation publications and a member of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team introduced herself to me. Soon after discharge, a member of the Cardiac Rehabilitation team phoned me to check how I was getting on and to let me know that I'd soon receive my appointments for the sessions in the gym. I attended 8 sessions at the Cardiac rehabilitation gym during which time I was given lots of information as well as confidence inspiring physical rehabilitation. Yet again, all of the members of the group were treated as individuals and it was not simply physical rehabilitation. Indeed, other members of the family were also supported at every stage of my time both as an In patient and an out patient.. All of the staff (Medical and non-medical) that I came into contact with were superb.
