"Treated badly by A&E"

About: Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health Royal Derby Hospital

(as the patient),

I feel that was treated really badly. I rang 111 for help, as I am suffering from depression. I feel that I was a risk to myself and others. I had cut my arm with a razor and clearly in need of help.

I was taken into hospital where I was signed in and then left on my own. I did not know what was happening. I just got told to wait.

I was in a room full of other patients. I was clearly in a bad way, and this made me feel even worse. I had nothing to eat or drink, and I'm 8 weeks pregnant.

Finally I was seen by mental health team at the hospital, who asked silly things and were trying to say it's my sleeping patten that makes me want to kill myself. They made me feel even worse.

Then without even asking me if I'm ok or do I still feel suicidal, I got told I could go. I told them at the start I had no money, and the lady I rang on 111 said they can sort something out. But that wasn't true, and I had to walk home feeling very suicidal and angry at the way I was handled.
