"Stays on A1, A11 and C3"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

Utterly appalling. I stayed in C3 Dec 26th-28th the year before last. I know it was Xmas, but three was no excuse. A&E forgot about me and I reminded them that I was still there after 6 hours wait to be told 'Oh, we thought you'd gone up to the ward'. There was hardly any staff on the ward and the medicines dispensing person kept loosing medication, got another ladies records mixed up and gave her a medication that she was allergic to, even though it was noted on the board behind her. I waited 3 days to be seen by a doctor, and they wouldn't give me my prescription painkillers to take for those days, and it turned out that I'd broken several ribs. I was put in the older persons ward A11 at the beginning of November last year, even though I'm in my 30s. The food and rooms were excellent, however it took 3 days again to be seen by a doctor and until then I was not allowed my medication again. During this time I had an asthma attack and had to borrow another patients inhaler as I was not allowed mine. That patient was also not allowed medication until she was seen and spent the nights in agony. That was the last time I saw the doctor until the 9th day. It was longer than it should have been as I was told that 'none of the consultants work on the ward over the weekend'. Some of the nurses were condescending and rude on occasions. And now A1 at the end of Dec 2013. An outdated and shabby ward with nurses who let an another old lady cry all night whilst they laughed and joked all night at full volume outside the room and were downright rough with her when they did attend to her. Food awful. A bread roll for breakfast, dry sandwich every lunchtime and uneatable in the evening. No nutrition at all. Again not a consultant in sight most of the time and we were told that 'they will get to your room this afternoon' which of course turned out to be the end of the next day. The lady opposite had her bedding changed and the pillows were covered in old blood stains that hadn't come out in the wash. Old cold loos and dirty showers. Whilst I don't expect 5* treatment from the NHS it's still an Utter shambles.
