"Perfect midwife!"

About: Colchester General Hospital

Until last night I unfortunately was very 'anti-maternity' at Colchester hospital. After delivering my daughter at Clacton maternity unit almost 4 years ago but sadly having complications after and being taken up to Colchester, I couldn't wait to leave and get back to Clacton! The work load is far too large for the amount of midwives/doctors, I felt like I was on a conveyer belt and they couldn't wait to get rid of me. I am now 28 weeks into my second pregnancy and my main concern is the closure of Clacton & Harwich maternity units and the likelihood of having to deliver at Colchester. After a minor complication yesterday I was taken to Colchester for care. There care I received was faultless. I had the most fantastic midwife who made me feel at ease, always involved & informed and very reassured during my time on the ward and when I went home. There was a short wait to an emergency with another patient whilst I was waiting for the doctor. Despite the ward being very busy with deliveries and cases much more severe than mine this midwife kept me informed the whole time. The care I then recieved from the doctor was also fantastic, I unfortunately didn't get his name. But between him and most definitely the midwife they have changed my view. If I was lucky enough to have a midwife like her I would happily deliver my baby at Colchester. Unfortunately I would still be concerned with guarantee of being placed on the Juno suite with a midwife like her. A lot of reviews only highlight the faults I'd like to highlight the slow change I have seen at Colchester, and say a huge thanks to the midwife, it's staff like you who should be fully commended.
