My mother was admitted with a stroke back in February and spent 7 weeks on the Stroke Unit. I can't praise enough the patience and dedication of all the staff who were caring and compassionate but firm and encouraging too. The Community Stroke Team are marvellous too and dedicated and well trained. The organisation and communication to enable my mother to go home was amazing. Sadly my mum was readmitted to a medical ward and never recovered. She spent time on several wards and was treated with compassion and dignity through out her stay. I spent long periods in the hospital as she approached the end of her life and I watched and listened a lot. All staff behaved towards patients in this manner and I was very impressed with the help some patients received with feeding and drinking from both staff and volunteers.. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Well done St Mary's - compared with some mainland hospitals you are way out in front in my opinion.
"Top marks for St Mary's"
