During my frequent stays in hospital last year, I was disgusted at the quality of the meals. When I was admitted 2 years ago at Ashford, the food was cooked in-house and was superb. However, now Serco have taken over i think the food is comparable to cheap microwave garbage. It is tasteless, unappetising and low quality.
If part of recovery is due to a good decent diet, then how are people supposed to get well eating this fare? The sandwiches are usually either egg or cold meat with little variation, when I asked for a fried egg I was told I couldn't have one in case I got salmonella and sued the hospital, toast is out of the question in case the toaster catches fire and burns down the hospital, and the shepherd's pie, pasta bolognaise, chilli and anything else with mince all uses the same mince mixture meaning they all taste the same. I ask the NHS please, please employ some proper catering staff with fresh cooked food on the menu,
