"Husband constantly being moved about."

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

(as other),

My husband has had two major operations. He is constantly being moved about, first Saunders Ward, then Intensive Care Unit, the High Dependency Unit and now Kingsmoor. As a result of all this he has got terribly confused as to why he is there and where he is. He has no recollection of his operations in the HDU he was progressing well, but fear for him now.

Dear Fearfulwife,

I am so sorry about the evident distress we have caused. I can see from your comment that he was doing well and so I'd be keen to discuss with you how he has progressed.

I know the team on Kingsmoor well and they receive consistently excellent feedback from patients and colleagues, I hope this was the case for you, but as I say, we would be keen to hear.

The number to call us on is 01279 827084.

Response from Princess Alexandra Hospital

I am sorry you are having a difficult time and your husband is being moved around the hospital. I would not want to comment on why this might be happening, as this would be pure speculation except to say that if a patient needed intensive care or is high dependency, those wards would be the right places for him to be, after which he would be stepped down to a normal acute bed. I can see this happened some time ago and so I hope it was resolved appropriately. If not, please do get in touch as I would like to ensure that we fully understand what happened for you and look at how we avoid a repeat of these circumstances if there was anything which we could have done differently. Please contact us on 01279 82 70 84 or at pals@pah.nhs.uk.
