I recently spent 4 days in the Royal, being transferred from a surgical assessment ward to a medical ward and finally to the hepatic ward. I'm writing to praise everybody I came into contact with. Absolutely everybody, ranging from cleaners and caterers to nursing staff were brilliant. They were genuinely friendly and cheerful all the time, in all circumstances, and both senior and junior staff went out of their way to show kindness to elderly patients. They guy who arranges the meals was an angel, trying everything he could to cater for my rather restricted diet. I only wish I had his name to thank him personally. I can't thank all the staff enough for making my first, terrifying, stay in hospital an absolute breeze. I truly hope the doctors and consultants are made aware of just how wonderful their foot-soldiers are, and how much their diligence contributes to the success of the hospital.
"A very humbling experience"
