"Excellent care & treatment"

I was initially placed under the lovely Gynae Oncologist & his MDT, with a very large ovarian cyst. Following an MRI scan he confirmed I would need to have a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, BSO (removal of ovaries & tubes) & removal of the huge ovarian mass. The MDT (Multi discipline team) is led by 3 Gynae Oncologists & they all work together, discussing their patients @ weekly meetings, so they are all fully aware of each case. All equally experienced. My op needed to be carried out under the 62 Day Pathway, with the operation being carried out by a wonderful Gynae Oncologist, assisted by his caring registrar & very kind anaesthetist. From initial appointments, pre-op checks, MRI, blood tests, full support by the consultant's secretary, the specialist oncology nurse, (even a mobile no offered to ensure peace of mind that you can contact with any queries or worries), admission to SDAU, prep for theatre, recovery, care on Cley Ward, daily checks by the consultant & his team to post op check up my care was faultless. The treatment & care was provided with true professionalism, appropriate humour (which made things easier), kindness & dignity. My scar is evidence of the skill of such excellent surgery as whilst it needed to be a large incision 5 weeks on it is virtually no more than a pale scratch. I only needed to be in hospital for 3 nights. So should you find yourself in the position that you are requiring to be under the Gybae Oncology MDT at the NNUH there is certainly no need to feel daunted as you will be well looked after & fully involved in any decisions. In addition the facilities at this hospital are excellent, clean & comfortable - bonus.
