Unfortunately, my health deteriorated when I reached 50. I underwent three major operations and one minor (day surgeryprocedure) at FPH. In addition, six years ago I was diagnosed with severe temporal lobe epilepsy. The care I received from my consultant, including an MIR scan and EEGs, for the first three years was superb so that the condition was eventually successfully controlled by medication. If I were to have concerns, I have the e-mail address of the specialist nurse who supports the consultant. Ten days ago I underwent orthopaedic surgery. This was straightforward. However, yesterday my GP sent me back to FPH because they thought I might have been suffering from a DVT. My dr spoke to the orthopaedic doctor on duty and sent me to casulalty with an explanatory letter addressed to him. The efficiency and friendliness I received, from the receptionist, triage nurse, nurse who did my blood test and the specialist doctor who injected me, were superb. The doctor explained exactly what the blood test had shown and the necessary treatment. He made appointments for me to return this morning for a scan and subsequent consultation with an orthopaedic consultant. Again, the consultant informed me fully about treatment and what extras I should do at home until my stitches are taken out by my surgeon (FPH surgeon) in five days' time. It is a long walk from Main Reception to Clinical Investigations which was difficult for me with temporary limited and painful mobility. (In any event, I'm not meant to walk other than pottering around the ground floor of my tiny cottage.) Without going into all the details, the unsolicited kindness I received from the following members of staff - all very busy going about their work - who saw me lost, and then struggling to get along, was outstanding. I was taken in two stages in a wheelchair to C.Is. Staff members: one porter, one administrative assistant, one theatre nurse and one sister. After the scan, another member of staff offered to get a wheelchair and take me to my appointment in Casualty. The receptionist, nurse and consultant were all efficient an d friendly. Appointments ran to time and I left Frimley Park Hospital feeling confident on being at home alone again and fully informed about the unfortunate problem - just bad luck - which I'd encountered. I am 67, have never used private medicine, and have nothing but gratitude and praise for the HNS.

Dear Annie Sorry to read that your health has not been the best in recent years. However it is reassuring that you feel staff at Frimley Park have been able to support you well and that your experiences here have been so positive. As well as offering good medical outcomes, we place a lot of emphasis on good staff attitude. For example, if a visitor is looking a bit lost it will not be long before a member of staff will ask if they can help. Sometimes it is the little things that can make a big difference. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope you're recovering well.
