"Waiting time for an appointment"

About: Devon Access and Referral Team (DART)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son collapsed on a Sunday night. Called 999. Not a lot they could do as it is something to do with his ears. Saw the doctor the very next day who started the ball rolling to see ENT. Got the letter from NHS Devon to make an appointment. Two weeks later, still waiting. Ringing DART is just a time wasting exercise as far as I am concerned. Just make an appointment, stop stalling.

Dear “Jack Rabbit”

I am so sorry to hear about the difficulty you have experienced while trying to get your appointment booked. I can completely understand why you are frustrated.

Without your details to investigate, I’m afraid I cannot explain what has happened but if you would be willing to call me, I would like the chance to investigate and ensure that you have an appointment in place, and also to give you a fuller answer as to what has happened.

What I suspect has happened is that you have been placed on a waiting list because all the appointments had been booked. However I cannot confirm this until I have investigated.

If you would like to get in touch with us please call my colleague Susan Pearce on 01626 883 702. Susan works Monday to Wednesday, 8 until 4. If this is not suitable for you, our helpdesk is open from 9 to 5 Monday to Friday and their number is 01626 883 888.

Kind regards,

Ben Corbishley
