"cleanliness"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

As a user of Wythenshawe hospital I am an advocate of their services which in my experience has always been excellent; However when I visited my aunt 2/5/14 on F ward 4 - I was appalled that on the floor (in her view) faeces had been left on the floor (with a walking frame around it). This was in front of the curtain which was drawn around the patient who was using a commode. My concern is – why was the excrement not cleaned away (by the nurse/care staff) as soon as the patient was comfortable on the commode? Was it left there as ‘punishment’? There was plenty of staff – who seemed to ignore the mess and stench – after ten minutes I finally heard a nurse say to another nurse “it looks like she didn’t make it on time – I’ll clean it if there is nobody else” this again begs the question why was the faeces not cleaned away as soon as the patient was assisted on the commode?
