"Elderly frail man waited 3 hrs for eye clinic assessment today "

Private carer took my elderly frail father of 87 to eye clinic this morning for 10:15am appt. He cannot be out of bed for longer than 2 hrs after suffering a chronic chest infection and is very weak.

This outpatient clinic messed him around for 3 hours and he also had to go for chest X-ray! By the time Carer got him out of clinic the X-ray dept was closed! This is disgraceful! I live 35 miles away and are reliant of this private Carer.

Then I learnt whoever examined him told Carer that he has a. Membrane growing over rear if his eye. When asked why, answer came back do not know could be due to his age. That is not good enough. If I was told I had a membrane growing over rear of my eye I would want it looked into.

He was then placed on a 3 month waiting list for cataract procedure which needs him to be under anaesthetic as he will not lay still flat down as he wheezes all time.

Cannot express what a poor level of service and lousy outpatient clinical team that apparently take no interest in patients. Have made formal complaint.
