My transportation to Broomfield Hospital with the newly appointed ERS Medical Services I felt was appalling. The crew arrived 3 hours late and told me rather rudely that my carer was unable to travel with me as they “do not take passengers – we are ERS not EEAS! ”. On arrival at Broomfield I was told that my Consultant had left for the day and I had to rearrange the appointment for 3 weeks time. I then sat waiting for ERS to take me home but after 2½ hours I was losing the will to live and arranged a taxi at my own expense (£24) to take me home.

I also spoke to another patient in the lounge at Broomfield who had been waiting 5 hours for transport!

This would never of happened with the East of England Ambulance Service! Heads should roll for allowing this vital service to be awarded to a clinical waste transport company. I can only hope that the contract with ERS is terminated sooner rather than later and our lovely EEAS staff are reinstated.
