"Fracture Clinic - incompetent administration and..."

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

Clean hospital, helpful nursing and reception staff. Sadly 1 arrogant doctor ruined my experience. I arrived for a review of my MRI report conducted the week before. I checked in at the Fracture Clinic 10 minutes before my appointment. The consultant called me in about 15 minutes later than scheduled. He didn't know I had an MRI the week before and didn't have my details to hand, so after 5 minutes talking about what had happened, he sent me to wait in the waiting room while he tracked down my MRI report. 20 minutes later he called me in again this time armed with my MRI report, he gave me a quick fire diagnosis and informed me that I would have to have surgery urgently. When I tried to query the diagnosis to fully understand what has happened to my body he said he had other patients to see and that as I was not an expert in the field like him I would not understand. He then said he regularly lectures on this subject for 2 hours at a time and didnt have the 2 hours to spend with me. I informed that I would not leave the room until I understood the reason for the urgent surgery, and that if he had been properly organised and prepared for our session with the MRI report handy, we would have had enough time to discuss the matter. He then hurriedly went through my options and suggested that he would be the one doing the surgery on me. I just cannot imagine going under the knife on a GA with this unprofessional surgeon.
