I was admitted to Raglan Ward 2/4 in February for scheduled surgery for a pelvic prolapse and hysterectomy.
Having previously been admitted to The Royal Gwent and St Joseph's Hospital's for other surgical procedures, I can honestly say the service and care at Neville Hall is 100% better than anything at the Royal Gwent.
Although St Joseph's give a high standard of care and is an amazingly well kept facility, as an NHS patient you do get the impression they really don't want you there, and patients are rushed out the same day. Friends and colleagues have experienced the same attitude.
I cannot praise too highly the care given to me by all the nursing staff on Raglan Ward 2/4 for the 3 days I was there. They were highly professional, and very friendly ensuring I had as enjoyable time as one can have after surgery.
The biggest complaint I would have is not to do with the hospital service, but the waiting times which the Aneurin Bevin Board feel are acceptable. From GP referral to having surgery was 12 months. This would have been longer, if not for the intervention of my GP on 2 occasions to get the appointment fast tracked.
What started as a minor problem resulted in major surgery due to the waiting time for a consultant appointment and another waiting list for surgery by the consultant.
Many thanks to the staff on Raglan Ward, Mrs Pinto, surgeon and Dr Lisa Bentham, registrar who was involved in my care from consultation, pre-op and post op care.
Thank you all very much.
"Excellent care in Neville Hall Hospital"
