"poor treatment on my 14 month old son"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

My little boy was sent to SGH by his gp on 17/04/14 due to having a painful medical condition which was concerning his gp, practice nurse, health visitors and his parents. on arrival at the hospital the staff were great..but when the doctor came to examine him, he dismissed our concerns and proceeded to tell us that our son's pain, swelling and redness was due to eczema.! He was sent home and told no further action was needed. on his discharge letter we recently received it stated that there was so signs of pain or discomfort. last week he was his specialist at Sheffield children's hospital abouta something else and as we were still concerned about this problem we mentioned it to her and she also agreed that he was in discomfort and needed a procedure to put the problem right. We have taken this info back to his gp who rang SGH to discuss what action to take, they told her that he would now have to wait for another appointment at the outpatients clinic which will take weeks.! I think this is really unacceptable that a 14 month(now 15 month) old boy is being left in pain and discomfort

Hello, I am sorry to hear of your experience. Our expectation is that all our children and families are listened to, and given appropriate care. Please contact our matron Mrs Rusiecki on 01724 282282 ext 5477 in order for us to be able to discuss this further so we can help. Kind regards, Sarah Mainprize
