"In patient treatment"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

'I was admitted to S2 on 4th April. the nursing received reflected a high level of training focusing on communication and patient care. Sadly these standards were not met by the consultants team of doctors. During my short stay of the 5 or 6 doctors I saw only on one occasion did the doctor introduce themselves and not once was I addressed correctly either my name was not used or the designation Mrs not Dr which appeared to be known by the nursing staff. In addition as I saw a different doctor each time the questions I asked which could not be answered immediately remained unanswered. It is sad that so much effort has obviously been made to improve the quality of nursing care and communication with patients that little or no effort has been made by at least one consultant to ensure the same standards within their teams

Thank you for your comments. I am glad you received excellent patient care on S2 from the nursing staff. With regard to our medical staff, they are trained on the importance of good communication and I will be sharing your comments with them. I am the general manager for surgery, michael.sunderland@nhs.net and if you wish to provide further feedback please email me.
