I asked to see a nurse to have a small protruding stich removed as it kept catching on my clothes and made the wound sore. But I was called to see a doctor who treated me somewhat dismissively and said that she couldn't see anything. When I asked her to feel what I was referring to she snapped 'Well, if I can't see it then I can't cut it, can I?' and she then told me to see my GP if it was still a problem. I pointed out that this was a bank holiday weekend, and that's why I'd come to the walk-in clinic. Anyway, the wound got infected, I had a course of antibiotics, and then I subsequently went to see my GP nurse who saw the problem stitch, and removed it. It was a belittling experience to to 'told off' by a doctor who didn't look closely, and wasted further NHS time and resources as a consequence. Also, I was clear that I needed to see a nurse, not a doctor. Next time I'll go to the Soho walk-in clinic where the staff are not pressured by being part of A&E
"Very disappointed by the walk-in 'service'"
