"Re: Cataracts Outpatients"

About: Worthing Hospital

I am disgusted and very upset with the surgeon/doctor I was seen by at this hospital. She was extremely rude, unprofessional and left me in tears with her appalling bedside manner. She began by informing me I had nothing wrong with my vision (despite having visible cataracts, clearly seen thanks to the eye drops). She then told me it was "more than likely" I'd go blind, but if this happened it didn't matter as I couldn't see anyway! Earlier in the day, other staff told me my condition was severe and needed to be addressed ASAP, however she dismissed it as very minor and told me I would have to wait 4 months. Her bedside manner was disgusting, and I feel she should not be seeing vulnerable patients as she doesn't seem to know what she was talking about! I saw a lovely nurse afterwards who took me to a side room and explained everything very clearly and patiently, and agreed my condition should not be marked as minor. She encouraged me to speak with my GP which I am in the process of doing. Avoid Worthing hospital if you need cataracts surgery, go to St Richards in Chichester! I am still waiting who knows when it will get done!
