"Wards 19 & 18"

About: Leicester General Hospital

I was admitted to Ward 19 for day surgery on my knee. From the moment I walked into the Ward, I was greeted by professional staff who treated me with care and respect. I had a knee arthoscopy and patellar stabilisation procedure. Sadly, I experienced a great deal of pain in the hours following the procedure. My nurse was excellent as we're all the other staff in trying to make me as comfortable as possible. I was given as much pain relief as they could give me, was comforted when things got really rough and was always treated with dignity. The decision was made to keep me in overnight and I was transferred to Ward 18. Again, the staff in the night did an excellent job of keeping me comfortable. In the morning, the physio who helped me learn to use crutches was brilliant as was one of the healthcare auxiliaries. All and all, the people on Wards 19 & 18 were really good.
