"A fantastic service at every point"

About: Horton General Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I had surgery to fix a small inguinal hernia at the Horton in Banbury in late April 2014. In the run up to the operation I met several different members of staff at the Horton, and from consultant to receptionist they were without exception helpful, polite, professional and friendly. I also found that, unlike other hospitals I've been to, the appointment time I was given was the time I was seen.

On the day itself the surgical team and the anaesthetists were excellent, and the nursing staff - Lisa in particular, who kept me well provided with tea and shorties afterwards - were completely brilliant. A fantastic service at every point, with the people I dealt with really standing out.

If you have to have the surgery, these are the people to do it for you.

Response from Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about the care you received, in particular the detail about what was good. This helps staff to maintain this high quality service. I hope you are recovering well from your operation.

I have passed your comments onto the team's manager and asked that this is brought to the team's attention, particularly to the nurse you mentioned by name (Lisa).
