"advised by my gp that I would ..."

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

(as the patient),

What I liked

advised by my gp that I would get a letter with a password so I could 'choose and book' my outpatients appointment. Thought this was a good idea as could book around work and family commitments etc.

What could be improved

I got my letter, went online and went to choose my appointment. There was no choice except the same day and 2 appointments only 10 minutes apart, so not really much choice. I booked one of the appointments only to receive a letter 4 days later telling me that the clinic had been cancelled and that they would send me another appointment. About 2 weeks later a letter came with an appointment at a set date and time. So no choosing and no booking then. It feels that the hospital have never intended to offer a choice but just let you book and then cancel to book you one instead.

Anything else?

Please dont offer services that you have no intention of offering. Choose and book is supposed to be just that. I should be choosing not the hospital.

However on a good note the appointment is soon and have not had to wait long.

Thank you for providing this feedback.

Our outpatient appointment team coordinate the choose and book system, however the availability of appointments is dependant on availability of the relevant clinical teams. With regards to your specific concern we would be grateful if you could contact our PALS Department on 0800 183 0204 or 0800 052 1195 to provide further details of the appointment you were trying to arrange so that we can investigate in more depth.
