When I went for my appointment at the rheumatology department, I found myself waiting for a very long time. I felt that I was in a cattlemarket and that because of the take a ticket system there was no prospect of me being seen on time, as my number would not be called until after my appointment time. I also observed that my notes were not given to the rheumatologist until an hour after my scheduled appointment time had elapsed. This was irritating. The rheumatologist seemed very good, but she did not have my blood test results from a few years back, which I found rather disturbing. Similarly, a couple of weeks ago, when I had an appointment at the Chest clinic, I waited to be seen for more than two hours, presumably because the staff didn't know why I had been referred by my GP and needed my GP surgery to fax through details. Following the appointment, I could not be seen for pulmonary functions tests, as the relevant person was off sick. Despite the passage of several weeks, I am yet to be called for those tests. A disorganised hospital, in my experience.
"A little shambolic"
