On 2 April I was diagnosed with a detached retina. On 3 and 4 April the consultant carried out thorough examinations and told me exactly what to expect. Surgery was carried out on 7 April and every one of the eye surgery team (receptionists, nurses and anaesthetists) was exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. I have over the years experienced private healthcare on several occasions, but I have never been better looked after. My consultant is an exceptional individual and his Eye Surgery Unit is exemplary. I have frequently attended the Eye Clinic on the floor below, bringing elderly relatives. The number of patients they deal with is immense; goodness knows how they cope, but it works. Somehow they succeed in delivering a thorough service in a friendly and good-humoured manner. Congratulations all round, and a big thank you from me for saving my sight.
