"Upset and Disappointed"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

My wife was induced at 4pm, it was her first time in hospital and she was very nervous, I never left her side until 9pm and I was told in no certain terms to get out! I explained that I lived 50 miles away and cannot leave because she could give birth anytime and she was extremely nervous, naturally my partner was in floods of tears. This meant I had to leave the woman i love in complete distress and pain. I bedded down in my car to await the call, as i was not going to miss the birth of my first child. She was in pain and contractions most of the night, they told her to have a bath, which she did, and was sick twice all over the bathroom, she rang the alarm and noone came, she tried again, and noone came! My partner in pain and sick, got tissues to try to clean up, dried herself and staggered back to bed, for a nurse wander over to her and ask if she could check up on her progress! At 6am after 9 hours of contractions and being alone, she was rushed to birthing suite, and she asked again could she contact me, and finally they agreed. I rushed in to be at her side for what was to be a very traumatic birth (Not surprisingly after her night!) Gladly mother and baby are doing well and the only praise I can give is to the surgeons and her midwife in the final hours.
