"Consultants need some training ..."

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital

(as the patient),

What could be improved

Consultants need some training in patient care - other than clinical care. On all my visits, I have had to work very hard to get questions answered. On many occasions, it felt as if I were having to make the consultant stay in the room until I had all the information I needed.

On one occasion, I was given my medical notes to carry to another room and, as I scanned through them, a member of staff snatched them away from me, shoved them in a paper bag and tried to seal the top with sticking plaster! I took them back and advised her that they were MY notes and I had every right to look at them, but she more or less chased me down the corridor to retrieve them.
