"Good care for my daughter's fast heart rate"

About: University Hospital Aintree / Cardiology

(as a relative),

My GP sent us into Aintree Hospital due to my daughter's fast heart rate. On arriving we were taken through to resus. The staff were lovely and made her feel at ease even though she was upset and nervous. They tried several times to bring the heart rate to normal.

They couldn't do anymore without speaking to the consultant who my daughter is under as she was born with congenital heart disease.

They transferred her to the coronary care unit where again she was given excellent care by all the team and was constantly monitored by all the lovely staff. Although visiting time was limited as they had a job to get on with they allowed me in at anytime as my daughter was very tearful and emotional.

They asked me to go in one morning while the doctor did his rounds. He was honest and told me the only thing he knew of her condition is what he had read in medical books. Eventually her consultant from Manchester Royal Infirmary told them what they needed to do.

She was moved to a heart ward for a few days. The nursing here was also excellent. She was upset being in hospital though but it was nothing to do with the excellent care, so they thought it best if she recovered at home but return to the ward daily until the medication was sorted.

I could not fault the care my daughter received from Aintree Hospital from entering at A&E to Coronary Care to the Heart Ward everyone was caring and thoughtful. Doctor Burgess was a down to earth type of person and spoke to us in a professional but caring way. Even the cleaners on the wards took time to chat as they worked. My family would like to say a big thank you to all.
