"Short waits in phlebotomy at Royal Lancaster Infirmary"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary / Clinical haematology

(as the patient),

I am prescribed Warfarin. The Royal Lancaster Infirmary checks my blood regularly to monitor the INR range is maintained.

They have devised an excellent system which ensures that waiting time is always short. Staff are good and morale seems high. Results and any necessary adjustment to prescription arrives by post the day after.

Other parts of the NHS might learn some useful lessons from this model.
