"No empathy for men during fetility treatment"

IVF is a clinical and complex process. On the day of IVF egg collection / fertilisation my wife and I were given a 9am appointment. My wife had a bed and I sat beside her. The nurse was very attentive to her needs. We had to wait a few hours for the procedure to collect the eggs.

My wife came back from the procedure looking really pale and groggy with her clothes covered in drying blood. At this point a cheery embryologist appeared and said it was time for me to do my bit. She then led me to a toilet, with a vinyl chair covered in blue paper towel roll, handed me a pot and waggled her finger towards a porn mag and left. At no point had my feelings been respected.

I was shocked to see my wife in that state and then when I was taken to a toilet and asked to produce, I felt angry. I wanted to leave the clinic there and then. I had to force myself to stay and try and clear my mind. I didn't understand why I was taken to a toilet. What do toilets have to do with male reproduction?

I felt like women were treated really well, but there was no empathy for men at all, I was treated like a machine.
