I have attended this hospital a number of times over the years as a patient and visitor and even been based there as a professional and feel it has good and bad points. They 'do' children very well, planned and emergency but adults not so good. One of the worst culprits is the emergency reception - somewhere I almost have palpitations about visiting! They are usually rude, uncaring, patronising, intimidating, passive aggressive with a knack for humiliation. I have witnessed an old boy come in with a head injury under his own steam just left sitting in a hospital wheelchair at the side of the counter with a word from no-one-when he got up and asked where he could get a cup of tea he was directed off to a vending machine walking alone with a head injury, no sit down love, someone will come and see you - she didn't appear to give a damn - the triage nurse can be aggressive - forget asking a question - they look at you as if your mad or accuse you of shouting or other such nonsense - bottom line don't dare to challenge - you'll be treated like a troublemaker and the staff will be on to security before you can finish the sentence - shame the service in A & E isn't as effective as security or the cash cow carparking - £2.50 to drop off a sample - and yes I know the car park is privately owned - but why? As an end note my Nan also caught MRSA here......oh and the food...I know it's a cliche to complain about hospital food but what I don't get is the difference in standards - I stayed on B3 recently and can honestly say the good was shocking - yet I've used the canteen many a time and the foods much better?
