Dissatisfied as I was with the care given to me and which I saw given to others at Hereford, I at least expected that the hospital had done its basic job of dealing with my emergency appendectomy in a safe and proper manner. However since my treatment at Hereford I have suffered a pretty extreme herniation of the incision in my abdomen and have had to undergo further surgery (at Droitwich Spa Hospital - a completely different experience in every way) to repair the herniation. The surgeon performing this remedial operation found extensive scarring internally in my abdomen due to the presence of an infection, plus of course the initially known fact that the abdominal incision had been poorly closed. So I have been incapacitated for months by Hereford's lack of professional care and have had to undergo a second (naturally very painful and unnecessary) operation, resulting in the loss of best part of a year for all practical purposes. The NHS needs radical reform - and Hereford Hospital should be high on the list for such reform.
