"Trip to MIU with my 13yr old son"

About: Helston Community Hospital

Originally from Helston and also working in the NHS locally I was very pleased to see that the care given in the MIU is still as good as it was! We arrived with our injured 13yr old son (after falling off a scooter) whose knee was bleeding and full of grit! We did have a slight wait but the very pleasant nurse gave him some paracetamol to help with the pain. Once we entered the treatment room the time, care and compassion shown and given was second to none. Both nurses (we timed it with a shift change) were incredible and we can't thank them enough! We headed back of to Somerset and school with a well cared for and bandanged knee and 1 very calm and relaxed 13yr old. It is very reassuring to know that my family, who still live in Helston, are in very safe hands. We really can't fault the care, service and whole experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the MIU to any local or visitor - but hopefully the need won't arise!
