"Appointment timings"

About: William Harvey Hospital

In this day and age it is appalling that the department only operates between 0800 and 1600 hours Monday to Friday. For those of us who work, we have to take time off to be here within the hours prescribed. Apparently the office closes at 1700 hours, but the last appointment is still only 1600 hours. Why do they not stagger the hours of the staff? It would be helpful if the appointments ranged from 0800 to 1800. That would at least give those of us who work some distance away chance to get back for a late appointment.

Response from Julie Pearce, Chief Nurse + Director of Quality + Operations, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust We are preparing to make a change

Thank you very much for your feedback which we totally agree with the sentiments about having access to outpatient services outside of standard hours.

We have recently completed a public consultation on our outpatient strategy which will enable us to provide more choice of patients with early morning, evening and Saturday appointments. The results of the consultation are currently being reviewed by University of Kent to ensure that we have followed the consultation process fully.

We hope to be able to start to implement changes over the next 6 months.
