"Amazing"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

I was taken into A&E on Sunday night after suffering from agonising lower abdominal pain. It was around 11pm and fear struck me when I saw the vast amount of people waiting in A&E, when we went to see the receptionist on our arrival, she could obviously see the pain I was in and immediately sent me straight through the waiting area and to the nurses station. We then got sent to a private waiting room, with a bed and chair. It wasn't long until someone came to see us, took my blood pressure and put a bracelet on me. A doctor on shift came to assess me, he made the diagnosis within about 15 seconds and explained that i had an appendicitis. Within 2 hours, I had been given pain relief, had my bloods taken and had a canular put in, ready for my journey ahead. I was taken into ward 14/15 at around 3AM and at 4AM I was taken off for my x-ray, although this was all very jumpy and probably not the best thing to be doing when i was in such a state, it was amazing how fast everything was being done. Once I had een taken back to the ward, I had immediate pain relief. By this time it was around 6AM so waking up time. I was soon introduced to all the nurses and then the doctor came and introduced himself, I was told straight away that I would be going into surgery at around 2. Now I could continue on and tell you all about every step I endeavoured here at the hospital, but I don't want to waste your time. The message I am putting across is the sheer brilliance of the service that was delivered. I cannot fault one thing, I have never seen so many nurses be so happy to be working and so friendly. The care given to me after surgery was amazing and everything I required was given to me. I was released from the hospital on Wednesday and I still can't stop thinking about the excellent care I received. It;s horrible to be constantly hearing bad reviews about the NHS and Dewsbury hospital, and I quite honestly was not the biggest fan before my recent experience. I have no idea if anyone will read this, but incase they do I would like to give an outstanding appreciation to the nurse, but she was wonderful, did far more than I'm sure her job description states, amazing, So a final thank you to everyone involved and everyone who puts their care and attention into this trust and hospital. I am having a speedy recovery and it is all due to you. Although hospital is probably most peoples worst nightmare, these people made my stay enjoyable and I am singing them praises. Thank-you Dewsbury District Hospital, you are amazing.
