Day patient for Rigid Systoscopy under General anaesthetic. It is a long time since I was an inpatient at an NHS facility, as had private cover through work for many years., so I arrived with a little trepidation having heard all the reports of funding issues etc. I was extremely pleasantly surprised. Efficiency has improved massively. The Named Nurse system gives you a great feeling of security. Everything was done in a very proffesional , efficient ( but never rushed) manner. In as far as anyone can when facing a general anesthetic, I felt comfortable and unstressed. I cannot say if Airdale is typical of all NHS facilities or not, but I would have no hesitation in recommending the facility. The only slight criticism I could make, and I feel almost churlish making it, is that there is still scope for improvement in the appointment booking and communication process prior to admission, although this is probably a national rather than hospital specific issue. E-mail communication and on-line booking would surely save a fortune in admin costs.
"Efficient, curteous, professional."
