"Complaint about Staff"

About: Yeovil District Hospital

When I was being taken into hospital at 9:30pm, I was really pleased with the ambulance staff. They were extremely friendly, kind, and helpful. It made me feel really looked after and comfortable in their hands. When arriving at the hospital, I got looked after fine and was pleased with overall experience... However, I self-discharged and felt extremely judged because of this and therefore didn't get the help I needed after this. The discharge form was unclear and stated "you will provided with any necessary medication or transport", we had no way to get back home due to having no money on us, and no contacts to drive us considering it was 1:30am. Due to having no way to get back at all I feel that transport was necessary to be provided. On a previous visit to Yeovil District Hospital, we were offered transport due to the staff understanding we were under 18 years old and may not be able to get back easily. She said transport is only for disabled and elderly and people who have no other way. We had no other way to get back, and even though I am classed as disabled, she said because we are "young, fit and healthy" we don't need it. Which evident, after my episode I was not. The senior nurse was continuously rude and obnoxious to us and made us feel extremely unwelcomed because of self-discharging. Referring to us as causing "problems" and judgmentally looking down on me and my partner. Her whole attitude was appalling, she tutted, shook her head at us, and judged my partners older sister due to not driving. The senior nurse was willing to allow a 17 year old who was recovering from serious concussion and attack to be left alone with no transport back home. She said we were not adults yet was happy to let us go with no transport provided. In this case we feel that transport was necessary and should have been provided when we had no way back of getting home. I am absolutely appalled with her attitude. A members of staff who was also rude was the receptionist of A&E who was disrespectful and treated us as if we were a pain.

We are very sorry to read your comments and would very much appreciate if you could call Linda Hann, our Patient Experience Manager on 07825111993 to discuss your concerns. The care that you describe is not as we would expect and we would welcome the opportunity to talk to you about your experience.
