I am writing about my treatment from the time I was brought in by a paramedic in the early hours of Friday morning. The pain I experienced to my chest, stomach and bowel was cruciferous and terrifying. I was seen by A+E doctors and had a CT scan and had my bloods done, which is understandable. What was wrong is the fact I was not given any emergency medicine, I did not have a chest X-Ray, I most likely did need transferring to one of the wards and from the way I see things the doctor didn't seem to believe me except for listen to what I said and looked more interested in doing other work. I am still suffering from these pains and can be very sharp at times although I have taken pain killers, I have to wait over Easter until Tuesday or Wednesday to see my GP. It shows the NHS is failing standards and is suffering because of cut backs totally appalled and disgusted

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you feel you were not given the medical treatment you wanted when you visited the Emergency Department (ED).

We would like to reassure you that the decision over what treatment or tests to give to you will have been made by doctors based on your presenting symptoms and past medical history only (not "cut backs" as you suggest).

We would be happy to discuss your experience in more detail if you would like - for example, it would be useful to be able to identify if, given your symptoms and your known medical history, a chest x-ray would have been an appropriate way to investigate the cause of your pain (rather than the CT scan you were given). We hope that when you visit your GP they are able to shed some more light on the cause of the pain you are suffering and that this, in turn, may help to make more clear for you the reasons why you were given some tests and not others when you were brought into the ED.
