"cancelled operation"

About: Woodlands

On the 17th of april 2014 I arrived for surgery, on an umbilcal hernia, 4 weeks previous to this, on the 21 st if march I had a consultation, and pre op assessment, the doctor told me I had to have a night in hospital, as I live alone. when I arrived on the 17th, I was assessed by the nurse, a junior doctor, then the anesthatist. When the consultant, examined me he told me, he could not do the procedure that day, as it was more complex, than he thought. He also told me I would need 3-4 days in hospital, and that you would contact me at a later date. I run a small business I had arranged cover, for my wotk, turned down work and rearranged my life, to have this procedure done on this date. The consultant, told me it was the wrong time of year, as it was a bank holiday weekend, and it would be full of locoums and agency staff. The first consultant, I cannot remember his name, was happy to do this procedure, as a day case. My hernia has not got any worse since seeing him So which of the surgeons were right, or was this just an excuse not to do it as it was a bank holiday. This whole thing has cost me a lot of expense, as well as ruining my up coming holiday plan
