"First rate care and treatment"

About: Leicester General Hospital

My husband has M.S and was admitted last week to A & E LRI ,with jaundice and sickness, and then transferred to the General ward 29. Although this was a Friday night the care and attention he received throughout the weekend was exemplary. Everyone from tea ladies to the doctors were kind, respectful and caring. He had both an Xray and Ultrasound over the weekend, which impressed me, and, by Sunday, he was transferred to a treatment ward, 27. Again, the care he received (he is immobile and needs help with washing and feeding) was wonderful. They sorted out the infection (inflamed gallbladder + stones), got down the temperature and he was out on Weds. All the nursing staff and doctors were great, which hasn't been our experience on a previous visit to another ward, some time ago. If you are severely disabled, you need help with everything and can feel powerless and abandoned but this was far from the case this time. I feel very proud of our NHS; it isn't cheap to run (for one person per day the amount of time, equipment and disposables required is eye-watering) but I for one am immensely grateful for the treatment that my husband received.

Hi Lind Thank you for your incredibly kind comments - we are very proud of the NHS too. We are also delighted to see that you and your husband had such a great experience of A&E, and wards 27 and 29. We are especially glad that - hopefully - this has gone some way to making up for your previous visit to a different ward. We wish both you and your husband well. Kind regards Communications Team Leicester’s Hospitals
