My operation to remove a large Basal Carcinoma from my nose and reconstruct the area using a Paramedian Flap from my forehead was scheduled for the 1st of April and the day itself was filled with first worry then optimism. I felt much more confident after I saw the consultant pre Op where he went over with me again the procedure he was going to perform. The first person I saw when I came round after the operation was the pretty nurse in recovery which cheered me up no end I have to say! The second person I saw was the consultant who gave me the biggest "thumbs up" sign ever, to signify that my operation had gone well. I cannot thank him, his theatre staff and the nurses in Meldon ward enough and anyone who is quick to criticise the Great Western hospital needs to realise what a damn good job they all do. I am due to go back to see the consultant on the 24th of April to see how things have gone since the operation and I can't wait to thank him for what he has done.
